Competition:  BOXING DAY COMPETITION
Date:  27 December 2009

Originally billed to take place on Boxing Day, this competition was a chance for members and their guests to get some well deserved fresh air after being couped up inside all over the festive period. However, with all the other crowd pulling events that annually happen in Sidmouth, it was agreed to move it on one day. The field was reasonable shall we say, with 14 groups of two taking part in the four ball better ball event. A 9am shotgun start set all the competitors off and three and a half hours later they all came back to the clubhouse to await the result. Usually 40-43 points is in with a fair chance of winning the top prize but after 1/2 dozen cards had been processed 46 was nowhere !

Callum Hill & John Jones were already spending their voucher and fair enough after posting a massive 50 points, but 10 minutes later they were pipped by Seniors Captain Ray Gunston and Pop Banfield with a mammoth 51 points. Congratulations to the winners, and many thanks to all those who took part.
