Competition: The Captain-Pro Challenge
Date: 17 October 2009

David Pepperell, Paddy Tallon (Captain), Lady Margot Beauchamp, Neil Faulkner, Chris Haigh (Pro)
The Club Captain Paddy Tallon and Professional Chris Haigh teamed up to challenge all-comers for the benefit of the Captain's Charity. The popular American Foursomes was used again to general approval other than from the four that played a better-ball!
Paddy and Chris kindly gave the prizes and any pair beating their score was entitled to a refund of their entry fee. Those on the other side saw their money boost the Diabetes fund.
Last year's Captain, Neil Faulkner, enjoyed the more relaxed position of challenger and led the way with his partner, David Pepperell, on 43 points. Kevin Legg and Roy Turner matched their total but lost out on countback. The Captain & Pro's partners for the day, Vice Captain Nick Bater, and Club Manager Jonathan Lee, took third on 42.
Lady Margot Beauchamp and Jane Painter took the Ladies prize.
Chris played some fine golf as to be expected from a Professional but Paddy struggled from a lack of recent play after using the side of the 16th tee as a ski slope and suffering a rib injury. Three late dropped shots allowed a few extra pairs to pass their score of 35.
18 pairs beat 35, 6 matched it and 27 fell short.
