Archie leads the way as 50 youngsters contest Sidmouth Junior Open

Sidmouth Golf Club welcomed 50 young golfers from across Devon for last month’s Junior Open – and what a day it proved to be.

Leading the way for the home club was Junior Captain Archie Griffiths, who claimed the Gross Prize with a superb level-par 66 and 36 Stableford points.

There were also excellent wins for Rory Monks in Division 2 and Leo Marshall in Division 3.

Archie is pictured with Club President Colin Macklin and club pro Duncan Arnold. For those wondering, Archie is the one in the middle!

A huge thank you to John Spiller Jones and his team at View 66 for sponsoring the event and helping to make it such a success.

Thanks, too, to all the volunteers who gave up their time, whether signing players in, providing refreshments out on the course or carrying out the vital – and, on occasions, no doubt challenging – task of ball spotting.

Fifty youngsters enjoying competitive golf at Sidmouth speaks for itself. A great day and another very encouraging sign for the future of junior golf at the club.
